Ms Rebecca Hoare

Student 1987 - 1991


Rebecca Hoare graduated as Dux of Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School in 1991. She was Head Boarder, a keen debater and a proud Connell girl. She went on to graduate Arts/Law with honours at the University of Queensland and completed an Associateship with Her Honour Justice Kiefel (as she then was) in the Federal Court, who later become the Chief Justice of the High Court. Following her passion for environmental law, Rebecca became a Partner at global law firm, Norton Rose Fulbright. Rebecca practices in environment, planning, climate risk, sustainability and native title.

She has been recognised by Best Lawyers as ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for climate change law and land use and zoning law. Rebecca also won the Euromoney Australasian Women in Business Law Award for environment and planning in 2014, and the UDIA Women in Development Excellence Award for environmental law in 2008. She is a founding director of Jaramer Legal, a majority Indigenous owned law firm formed in a joint venture between Norton Rose Fulbright and Mailman Law.

Rebecca is a proud mother to Elie and Audrey and devoted partner to Tom, who – together with her extended family and friends – have supported her every step along the way.
