Dr Sarah Kelly (nee Kitchen)

Dr Sarah Kelly is motivated in life and career by values of humour, inclusion, compassion and curiosity and believe those values were ingrained during her attendance at IGGS from 1984 to 1988.
Following school, Dr Kelly completed Commerce and Law degrees at the University of Queensland and practised as a commercial lawyer. She was awarded an MBA degree in 2002. In 2010, she completed a PhD and is currently an Associate Professor in Law and Marketing at the University of Queensland and a speaker, administrator, consultant and writer in sport. Dr Kelly is globally recognised for her expertise and research in sports marketing and sports law and is widely published in the sports field on topics including sports scandal impacts, sport legacy, sport marketing strategy, women in sport and esports.
She is a visiting fellow at Loughborough University, London and has led international immersive courses for undergraduate and MBA students to India, Argentina, China and the USA. She has led the development of a global sports innovation accelerator at UQ and has mentored several sports technology start-ups in Australian and internationally.
Dr Kelly is a non-executive director, including as Deputy Chair of the Brisbane Lions AFL Football Club, Director of Wandering Warriors and Director of Tourism and Events Qld. She is also a member of the National Education Advisory Committee for the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a co-founder of an esports education and advisory business, Global Esports Services.
